London hotels and restaurants are reinventing the afternoon tea tradition. In time for Mother's Day, here are some of my favourite tea spots with themes such as Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast.

Summer is approaching and I have noticed that wicker or straw basket bags are popping up everywhere on Instagram. I love these bags because they are currently following my theme for African travel inspiration. Check my previous post on African-inspired home decor. The bags have been seen on IT-girl, Alexa Chung and Hollywood actress/entrepreneur, Jessica Alba. Here is a collection of some of the best bags.
It might not surprise you that when I travel, I like to bring home souvenirs to remind me of where I have visited. It is not unusual for travellers to do this. The tourism industry thrives on selling trinkets for tourists to take home, such as Big Ben fridge magnets or wooden toy Russian dolls. I collect art so when I travel I tend to buy paintings by local artists of places such as Lapa in Rio de Janeiro and Mekong River in Ho Chi Minh City. I have now found that it is better to decorate my home with stand out pieces from abroad, rather than trinkets that get out on a shelf and are rarely looked at.
Africa is in my blood so it should not surprise you that I have found ways to bring Africa to my lovely garden flat in London. That is not to say that my home is filled with Zebra rugs and ivory clocks. No, I have found ways to decorate modestly and inexpensively.
Today's feature is reality TV star, Rupert Frere. I know what you are thinking. Reality star? No, not that kind of reality star. Rupert was a contenstant on Sky TV's Master of Photography 2016. Within a few episodes of watching the show, it became obvious that Rupert was going to be a favourite, not just for his skill in photography, but for his friendly and humble demeanour. Rupert went on to become a runner-up so we decided to catch up with him to see what he's been up to.
What is it about sunsets that make you feel philosophical? I love exploring the world but I believe the best thing about travelling is watching the sun go down from another side of the world. I'm forever chasing a life-affirming sunset. My sister mocks me for the way I chase that perfect sunset. She says that the sun sets the same no matter where you are on an island. I disagree. It's hard to explain how sunsets make me feel. Every sunset is different and every sunset tells its own story about the day. And every sunset looks different depending on where you are viewing it from. I have so many photographs of sunsets but I have managed to narrow down my top 5.
