Of course leave it to me to completely forget that my cousin is getting married in less than two days. The wedding is in the countryside. It is raining. It is cold. We are in October. I’m struggling to shift some weight and I have nothing to wear. Ashamedly, I am the true definition of a procrastinator. Now that I’ve admitted it, where do I seek help? I am in true panic mode! I have trawled through the Internet looking for the perfect dress. I have to find a dress that is practical for me with toddlers who can hardly feed themselves. A classy dress but not too showy à la Kylie Jenner, who recently attended Justin and Hayley Bieber’s wedding in a loud and very proud gold gown. My first thought when I saw her look was Deborah Cox singing “No! No! No! No! No! No! No! Noooooooo! How did you get here?” because what a faux pas to turn up in a dress that could potentially out-do the bride. She looked beautiful but one must always observe correct wedding etiquette and that means all eyes should be on the bride and it is up to you as a guest to ensure that this happens on her big day.
I decided to check out some of my favourite online stores who offer next day delivery.
Breastfeeding mums will love this ASOS dress as it is easily accessible. The colour looks amazing on dark skinned women too. Add some shimmer on the skin and a fascinator on your head and you are good to go.
I normally shop at Mango for work clothes. They have such great quality material at a reasonable price. I really love the Chanel type tweed jacket that they do every year. It is great to keep you warm for autumn weather. Whilst on the website, I noticed a monochrome jumpsuit and God knows mothers love a good jumpsuit. All white is another no-no as it is traditionally the bride’s colour for her dress but this jumpsuit has black stripes on the legs and a black top so you would not upstage the bride. You can find it here.
Normally, I can’t respect a chunky heel but the colour of these Maison Margiela and the diamond rings inside the heels are perfect for a wedding. You can find them here.
If you want a designer dress at a steal, I’ve got you. This Mikael Arghal dress has been reduced by an amazing 70%. Remember that wearing red at a wedding means that you object to the union - basically it’s the colour worn by a mistress apparently - but this floral number is mixed with blue so it is not too loud.
I like to splurge on designer wear once in a while and for special occasions like weddings, Self Portrait has the dresses. They normally do the same dress in a variation of size from maxi, midi to mini, like this little number.
Clutch bags are for weddings and farfetch.com has all the designer bags you could wish for. I love this logo clutch bag by Maison Margiela.
What would a fashion blog post be without a special mention of our favourite shop, Zara? I found this soft pink coloured wrap around dress quite charming for a weddding. You can find it here.
To compliment the dress, you can find designer shoes at a fraction of the price from Yoox and Lyst. Their stock is off season but it is my go-to website for my favourite designer, Marco de Vincenzo, at a steal.
Watch this space to find out which outfit I settled on.
